But before I get ahead of myself: I do play Zelda, but I haven't played Windwaker for ages -- mostly because my friend has the game, but I've yet to get it myself due to months and months of no income (which, fortunately, is soon to change)! I know some people are all OH IT IS TOO CUTESY, but whatever man, that is why I like to play it. Otherwise, I would not have Harvest Moon hanging out in my games collection.

I NEED TO HURRY UP AND MATCH YOUR COMMENT LOVE! Geez, I am so slow tonight; thanks, wine after dinner. Anyway, I have to say that your ice cream comment is the coolest way of describing anything that I've worn ever -- mostly because I'm not quite sure how to really describe what I do wear most of the time. I'm pretty sure I can't quit color because it's something that's constantly showing up in my paintings and the like -- I'm always wondering whether I can pair color x with y and make it work like it does on paper, often to weird results.
OKAY, THAT IS SO TRUE RE: LINK. I know that you get to Twilight Princess and Link is all "OH LOOK AT ME, I AM FABIO" and stuff, but Link started out as this little boy all old school, and I like that! It's not a crime, my friends, it's not a crime! Also, you get brownie points for even knowing what I'm talking about with Harvest Moon, since usually people give me this really blank stare and then I have to explain that I'm playing a farming simulation game. Of course, then they give me more blank looks, and I am all, "Sorry, it's like crack," and it is SO true -- especially when you get really close to a festival and you have to ~ask your true love out~ and all that crap. MAKING BABIES IS SOOO IMPORTANT.
So, the Docs? Best birthday present I've been given ever, I'm pretty sure. You see, I wanted them soooo much during middle school -- even before I knew their awesome roots or anything, being but an ignorant child in suburbian Midwesternlandia, I wanted these wicked but too-expensive boots. But then this fall, my mom is all, "Allison, I think you need these boots," and it was one of those double-take moments, because my inner prepubescent was totally incredulous. But the best thing is that the more I wear them, the more comfortable they are, which a) never happens with awesome outfits, and b) is something I seriously need, since I have crazy flat feet and good shoes are seriously hard to come by. So although they're crazy expensive, if you can get them, I highly recommend it! Not only do they look seriously wicked, but they are pretty much the best shoe ever. A bit long to put on, though, I will admit, but totally worth it.
Lastly (perhaps!): YES! Vests, ties, blazer lovers should unite! I could hug you through the internet. I should. It will be awesome. :']

So, I just looked up the Awesome Crossing video and about died around the time the elephant screamed, "I HATE YOU! YOU NEVER VISIT ME!" Although I've yet to get my hands on Animal Crossing (because ooh, all my friends who do just so happen to game are apparently TOO HARDCORE to go for Animal Crossing), all I could think was, "I know how it goes, guy who just can't stop. You become a slave to heart levels." I love how you have to make your animals love you in Harvest Moon or else you get all these awful shitty products and you become poor. Also, that the game boos and hisses at you when you litter (at least, in Magical Melody). Why so polite, Harvest Moon? I am waiting for the secret 101st note in Magical Melody that says, "Congratulations! You said 1000 please and thank yous to all your friends! Now, you can date the gigantic Harvest Fairy you revived a few notes ago! Woohoo!"
:( Oh my god, MIA 20-hole Docs. That is certainly cry-worthy. I feel as if they need some sort of memorial service, as absolutely insane as that sounds. Although I am of little authority RE: Dayton, I've visited Omaha before as a guest to a friend's Thanksgiving festivities! I have this sinking feeling that I didn't really get to see Omaha beyond that of the strip mall, though, which bums me out -- mostly because I've heard nothing but awesome things about their music scene, and even beyond that, the surburbia I saw was big enough to suggest a pretty hearty downtown area that I never saw hide nor hair of at all.

It's true, it's true! Although a friend of mine, who is very much lady, is all HALO AND CASTLEVANIA, WOOOOO! And then there I am, sitting in the corner, going "Yep, that is some God of War. Look at that head fly! What CGI!" I mean, not that I am not a fan of such things, but I fully admit to preferring to chilling in the corner and piddling with my RPGs and the occasional life simulator. I totally had a guy tell me once that it was super-amazing that I played video games at all, but I cannot wait for the day when I can high-five some guy for admitting that they might just like playing the cuter side of things! It'll be AWESOOOOME. (Sadly, I can't include Final Fantasy in any of this, as there are enough boobs in certain heroines to assure me that there are dudes tuned in and interested.) Also: widgets, you say? I totally need to investigate in how to make these things! Then there will be all of five StyleMobbers with Heart Level buttons or feedable sheep that give you "Wal-Mart Grade" to "Chanel Knee High" socks in return for how much you pay attention to it. That sheep would be sooo spoiled, let me tell you.
THAT WOULD BE SO HELLA AWESOME! I've just been getting myself into t-shirt alteration, but a few years ago, I did a series of tote bags and I totally miss applique stuff like no other. Now I want to see what messing around with size and scale would do -- would it be really awesome or just really overwhelming to place a really big applique of, say, Link chilling out on the front of a smaller tote? I am thinking that sketches are in order... after homework. This is reminding me of all these sewing and restructuring projects that I've been fantasizing about! Too bad silkscreen presses don't grow on trees, I am telling you.
You know, I am not sure if it treated me well, but I think it was mostly the host situation. My friend was quite attentive, sure, but only as attentive as she could be considering that I was on the ride for a family Thanksgiving! Basically, it was kind of like being a gigantic fly on the wall for someone going home to visit her friends and family, which means that I'm pretty sure that I didn't really get to see the rocking parts of Omaha! Anyway, I am pretty much almost in Indianapolis proper; the town I live in is 20 minutes from downtown with regular interstate traffic. As for Bloomington, I am a little farther -- I want to say a hour and a half, two hours if you're driving like a normal, "legal" individual? At any rate, I pretty much hang out in Indy all the time, especially since I go to school right off the Canal District! It is pretty much like school, then small park, and then CANALS LINED WITH MUSEUMS! HAY LADY HAY! I adore Bloomington when I do go, though; such great ethnic foodssss. OH, and small trivia: it's Hoosier! Strange but true, and the origin of the actual word is so ambiguous! They never quite pin down THE TRUE STORY, but there have been wild rumors taught in elementary school history courses about bar brawls and Mike Tyson stunts!

I was talking to a friend about how sometimes, even I'm caught doing the Gloomy -- usually when trucking across campus with my portfolio, of course, so it's either the Gloomy or Deyn's unlisted "Unbalanced Hobble," wherein I have to wade back and forth to compensate for the portfolio's merciless beating against my side. Which, after a fact, actually answers your question RE: what I'm studying -- ~AHHHT~! More specifically, I'm in my Foundation year, which is apparently needed despite my having an Associate's of Art with a studio art emphasis (which, for the record, is possibly even more useless than my bachelor's-to-be, as I can only qualify for jobs teaching kids crafts). I am not quite sure what I'm going to declare in, as the original plan was painting, but I really can't escape all this sculptural stuff right now! IT'S CREEPING INNN! However, I did consider textiles for a little bit, along with fashion design, graphic design (and apparently, design is not my thing), and even art history! But don't worry; I totally didn't say "MAN I AM GOING TO SCHOOL AND IT IS RAD!" or anything, so you are pretty much awesome in e-friend land. You would be awesome regardless, but STILL!
Anyway, what was I saying? Oh yes: I'm totally having Potter Symposium envy! I've had this constant rallying effort to make my very own Hogwarts uniform (I suspect Hufflepuff), but to no avail! Usually, my best friend has a Harry Potter Halloween Party, but I've never been in town whenever she's had it (usually thanks to my being out of state) and therefore haven't had the fire under my butt to knit an awesome school sweater or scarf! The only con I've ever been to was when Celebration III came to Indy and I almost went as Shaak Ti but ran out of time to make a pretty crazy costume! ... I'm sensing a pattern here, and not just in terms of my great desire to express how nerdy I am to the world either.
CURRENTLY ENVYING YOUR NAP -- that and man, your cousin has such a badass bed if it's the type where you look at it and suddenly, it sucks you into a nap without knowing it. I mean, even if you were exhausted, only a few beds are truly capable of sucking any and all capability for conscious thought. Reason why I say thi sis because tonight is not looking good for sleep on this side of the screen; it's this big push to finsh a six foot plaster statue for critique! WHAT? ME, BITE OFF TOO MUCH THAN I CAN CHEW? Hell yeah that is what happened.
For the record, both childhood sweetheart and bffery stories were fabulous! Also, I am JUST getting to the point where it is weird to know people who are getting married! There's no one in my general vincinity yet who is having the urge to baby, but it really boggles the mind that there are people creeping about getting ready for Club Wedd and the like. It's partially because I'm stuck in perpetual freshman/sophomore mode at school, but also WEIRD GEEZ WHAT HAPPENED TO CAREERS, DUDE? and they are all WHAT, ALLISON, DON'T BE CRAZY AND GET ME SOME TOASTERS! But then I go shoe-shopping with my best friend and have a deep, comprehensive conversation about Kingdom of Loathing, and then everything comes back to rights again. :)
watiahwefwepfoij BEST FIND EVER. I think a fleet of neon 80s pencil skirts would be the best thing to happen to anybody's wardrobe ever! Now I wish I had some patterns and some really wicked concert tees so I can just walk around and be like, "Why yes, that IS the Psychadelic Furs on my ass, why do you ask?" Actually, if that were the case, I'd be touching my butt a lot. That's right, internet: I went there, and I'm rambling even moreso than my fellow mobber did but before! HA!

SO BASICALLY, THIS ASSYRIOLOGY STUFF SOUNDS RAD! Just finished a midterm (aghhh midterm onooooes) wherein I was hanging out with my mad homies, The "Art of the Ancient Near East" (because apparently, in Indiana, we are too lazy to just learn about Assyrians/Babylonians/Mesopotamians/et al ~separately~ and whatnot) and totally wrote an identification on a piece similar to my good friend, the Great Lyre. Sadly, it was missing a ROCKING BULL HEAD WITH MASSIVE BEARD, but you win some and you lose some! Also, if Assyriology is not what I think it is, I will have to bury my head in mortal shame like that of the shame-filled people known as My Ancestors. Or ostriches, depending on your frame of reference.
OKAY, YOU WIN A CELEBRATION III STORY FOR KNOWING WHO THAT IS! So we're all hanging out, creeping through the masses of nerds (some moar bathed than others, of course, but generally good folk) and I seriously saw a fucking tauntaun costume. IT WAS SO BADASS and although not entirely to scale, it was taller than me and I was all "WHOAAAAA, I AM BUT A TINY MIDGET!" This was pre-owning a digital camera days for me, though, so there is no visual evidence of this massive mind-blowing experience. HOWEVER, I do have a lot of retarded doodles of Yoda talking smack and Ewoks going "Yub yub, motherfuckers!" somewhere on my Photobucket. Also, there's photographic evidence of my touching Jar-Jar in carbonite. Best Star Wars moment ever, I swear.
Okay okay, so this weekend, I played some Harvest Moon to heal the wounds of my soul, right? MAN, A WONDERFUL LIFE IS HARD AS HELL! It is not great for those mindless, let's go off into a mental wonderland of happiness kind of place or anything. For one thing, I cannot figure out for the life of me where to sell my produce.
